Friday, June 5, 2009:
We got on the road pretty early, around 10a. Megan and Cameron watched "Finding Nemo". We stopped at the first rest stop in Kentucky, and caught up with Ron and Joyce there. I showed Megan on the map where we were heading. We used the facilities, and piled back in the van. Ron and Joyce followed us as we headed south, and I reviewed my gymnastics flash cards. Both kids seemed happy to sit quietly and watch the show.
After Nemo was done, we found an exit with a Cracker Barrel. Cam was getting a little grouchy. Megan was content to play the peg game at the table. Cam wandered around the restaurant some, and played on the rocking chairs out front.
After lunch, Megan had quiet time so Cam could get a quick rest. He probably slept for about an hour, and then we were there.
We thought we were checking in right at 4p, but it turns out Cave City is on CST, so it was 3p. We unpacked the car while the kids explored the cabin. Megan loved her top bunk. The kids climbed the tree outside our door, and ran around getting all their "sillies" out.
David and I participated in quite a few rounds of ring-around-the rosie.
We also played on the camp playground for a while.
Ron and David started a campfire, and Megan roasted a hot dog for me for dinner.
We also had s'mores that night, and went on the Yogi Bear hayride.
