Mamie and Megan came over Sunday night so they could get ready for the parade in Blue Ash together. They had a "slumber party" with Megan sleeping on her air mattress on the floor, and Mamie in Megan's bed. They woke up early to dress as clowns, and we all (me, David, Mamie, Megan, and Cam) piled into the van to drop off Fancy Pants and Petunia. Then we parked and hustled to where the parade was already beginning.
Rain was in the forecast, but not a drop fell during the parade. I was relieved that it was completely overcast, as I am a wimp when it comes to hot, sunny weather. Cam sat nicely on my lap for most of the parade, until some loud truck horns scared him. Fancy Pants and Petunia were near the end, and Cam was upset that he could not run out and walk with Megan. That was when we headed back to the car, as the end of the parade were fire trucks and that could be more noise trouble.
We followed the end of the parade, as we weren't positive about where to pick up our two clowns. Cam enjoyed waving out the window at all the people that were still lining the streets along the parade route.
When we got back to our house, the cookout feast began. Aunt Jamie and Cedric and Aidan joined us, to make a cozy party of 4 adults and 4 kids. We were able to eat and play outside for an hour or so before it started drizzling. Thanks for accommodating us, Mother Nature!
