Megan, David and I were talking about nocturnal animals. Megan knew that owls and bats are 'nocturnal', meaning they sleep during the day and come out at night. David, ever the comedian, asked her "Do you know what else comes out at night?"
Megan: "Tell me."
David (with a sideways glance at me to be sure I was ready to appreciate his pop-culture reference): (pause, wait for it) ... "The freaks."
We spent a while on that one, trying to explain to Megan what a freak was. The next day, Eric informed me that Megan had woken from nightmares twice, worried about the freaks coming out. Oops. We played the song for her then, and danced around enthusiastically. Hopefully the freaks aren't so scary anymore!
