Indiana Fever Take One

David and I went to the Fairytale Festival at Glenwood Gardens on Saturday around 130. I told him to remind me that I don't need to go to that again. The giant bugs we saw there years back were way cooler. Then we headed to Indianapolis. The hotel we stayed in was 0.8 miles from the basketball venue, but it was in a way nicer part of town, so that was cool. We were able to check out the Canal Walk, which I didn't even know Indy had. We also saw some of the Indiana state buildings. The swimming Olympic trials had started that day, so it was busy downtown with lots of swimming-themed booths, etc. There was a live band, but they weren't playing cover songs, so David said he was fine with passing on that. We went to the convention center hoping to find Ben's Pretzels, but they weren't there this time. We ate dinner at Steak n Shake, it was delicious. I got a burger this time, along with a birthday cake shake. Then we walked back to our hotel, and did a lot of reading.

The next morning we had breakfast at the hotel - they had waffle machines, so David was happy with that. Then we moved everything to the car (we had the valet let us use our keys), and checked out of the hotel. We headed over to Gainbridge Fieldhouse. We were able to mostly stay in the shade, and saw Monument Circle, which was pretty impressive. When we got to the game, the doors were not open yet. We were able to find two chairs in the shade, and we sat for quite a while and waited for the doors to open, and then for the lines to go down. We found a Bens Pretzels on the top level, and the line there was significantly shorter. The pretzel didn't taste quite as good this time (less fresh?). The game was great - the score went back and forth, but the Fever came out on top. Catelyn Clark had a good game. We were near the very top of the top section. The game was sold out, but the energy could have been better. It seemed like the fans were pretty subdued. After the game, we walked in 91 degree heat back to the hotel, but it wasn't too bad. We found a lot of shade. We got the van from the valet and headed back home.
