"Unfamiliar" circumstances

David put lights on our house Friday, and Saturday after Megan and I came home we turned them on. We went outside to admire them. Megan told me "we're playing outside at nighttime! This is unfamiliar!" I was completely shocked - I didn't even know she knew that word, and she used it correctly!
