Around 20 months we solved Megan's bedtime problems (finally) by trying CIO ("cry it out") again. Now we put her in the crib fully awake and she goes to sleep on her own.
This is, without a doubt, "a good thing". However, Mommy misses the cuddling of the nights she let me rock her to sleep. I get a hug now and then, and she'll sit on my lap for a story, but nothing compares to a sleep head nestled into my elbow or on my shoulder. So yesterday morning when she woke just a little too early, grumbling and bleary-eyed, she accepted my offer ("Want Mommy to rock you?") For 10-15 minutes she settled into my arms, sighing and closing her eyes off and on. It was a wonderful way to start our day.
