David's book for Cameron

CHAPTER ONE

Once upon a time there was a little boy named Cameron. His lived with his sister and his mom and dad. Cameron wasn’t like all the other kids he went to school with because he had a secret. One night while he was sleeping he had a dream, and it was the most real dream he had ever had. In it he met a funny looking man. He was taller than Cameron but not by much and he wore a giant hat that was as big as him and looked as if it were made of clouds. He had big gray bushy eyebrows that were made up of gray hairs that went in every direction. His face was slender but his cheeks were rosy. He had a beard and mustache that was so big that you couldn’t see his mouth. So big that Cameron wasn’t even sure he had a mouth until he spoke. He said, “my name is Remington and I come from the Nation of Imagine to ask for your help” Cameron was a bit suspicious of Remington. He thought to himself “this is just a dream” and Remington said, “indeed it is a dream but not like your normal dreams for I am as real of you are and I have come to ask for your help.” Cameron still thought it was a dream but decided it seemed like a fun dream so he would just play along. He asked Remington how he could help him. Remington told him that Cameron’s world and the Nation of Imagine was both in grave danger. He told Cameron that and evil sorcerer named Dr Nightmare was trying to use children’s dreams to enter into Cameron’s world and if he were able to do it a hole would open between the two worlds and the both worlds would fall into darkness. There would be no place for people to come to during their dreams and without dreams there would be no imagination and without imaginations the nation of imagine would be lost forever. Cameron asked Remington how he could help he wasn’t even sure what a sorcerer was. Remington told him that out of all the children who visited the Nation of Imagine Cameron’s imagination was the strongest and he could use it to help defeat Dr Nightmare. Cameron still thought it was a dream but he liked the idea of saving the world even if it wasn’t for real. He told Remington he would do whatever he could to help but that he thought it might be time for him to wake up and go to school. Remington said indeed it was time for Cameron to wake up and go to school but before he left he had something to give him. From out of his beard he pulled something and gave it to Cameron and asked, “do you know what this is?” Cameron looked at it. It looked like a red magic marker but it sparkled and felt tingly when he held it. Cameron replied, “Of course I do it is a magic marker.” Remington said you’re almost right it is not a magic marker it is a marker of magic” you can use it to draw things in the Nation of Imagine to help defeat Dr Nightmare. Just then Cameron started to hear a beeping sound. It started out faint but kept getting louder. Remington must have heard it too because he took off his cloud hat, revealing a head with not a single hair on it, laid it on the ground and jumped onto it and started to float away. As the beeping got louder Remington seemed to fade until he was no more. With that Cameron woke with a jolt and turned off his beeping alarm clock. He thought to himself ‘wow what a crazy dream’. He looked around for his favorite stuffed animal Tiggy Taggy and when he found him he was holding a red magic marker that looked sparkly. He took it from Tiggy Taggy it tingled and on the side it read ‘Cameron’s Marker of Magic. See you soon Remington.’

Chapter two The Bus stop.

Cameron thought he still might be dreaming so he gave himself a pinch. “Ouch” he said. “Ouch what?” his mother asked as she came into the room. Cameron hid his new Marker of Magic behind his back. “I don’t know, just ouch” he replied. “must be growing pains” said his mom. “Yea probably” he said. He thought that sounded like a better answer than “I just pinched myself to see if my Marker of Magic was real”. Well its time to get dressed for school growing pains or not. Cameron climbed down out of his bed and put the Marker of Magic into his school backpack. Cameron got dressed in the clothes he had picked out the night before and went downstairs to eat breakfast. He had waffles and Orange juice. He always had waffles and orange juice. He ate regular waffles, cinnamon waffles, Belgian waffles waffle sticks and when he ate ice cream he always got it in a waffle cone. His mother said she thought he ate so many waffles he might just turn into one and Cameron would tell her this was scientifically impossible and ask for another waffle. After he finished his third waffle of the morning he packed his lunch and put it and his homework into his backpack. “I’m going to the bus stop” Cameron yelled as he ran out the door. Cameron wasn’t normally in such a hurry to get to the bus stop but today was different he wanted to show his friends Cameron Meyers and Liam his magic pen. As Cameron ran to the bus stop from his house he saw Cameron Meyers bolt out the front door of her house and start run towards the bus stop. He also saw Liam was already at the bus stop. He was bent over with his hands on his knees panting like he had just ran a race. As they all came together at the bus stop they simultaneously said “I had the weirdest dream last night”? Cameron Meyers yelled, “jinx on Cameron and Liam”. In an incredible breech of jinxing etiquette, Cameron yelled out “I got a Marker of Magic” as he pulled it from his backpack to show them. Cameron Meyers and Liam just stared at Cameron. He wasn’t sure if they were staring at him because of his Marker of Magic or because of his lack of jinxing. They all stared at each other for what seemed like forever until finally Cameron Meyers slowly pulled a what looked like an old leafless twig from her back pack. On its side in very small jagged print it said “Wand of Wandering”. At that instant Liam and Cameron both asked “Did Remington give that to you?” . “Jinx on Cameron Mor……” Liam started to blurt out but stopped as both Cameron’s started to glare at him. “I guess we’re not playing that today huh?” he said sheepishly. Cameron Meyers said she did get her wand of Wandering from Remington and asked if Remington gave him his Marker of Magic. She said he did. Both Cameron’s again turned to Liam. He could tell they were about to ask if he got a visit from Remington in his dream too. He reached into his backpack and rooted around. He pulled out his books then his Trash Packs and pens and pencils even his peanut butter and Doritos sandwich that his mom always packed him for lunch. Finally he pulled out a very old looking watch. “Remington said this is a Stop Watch but it just looks like an old watch to me” Liam said as popped a jelly bean that had been at the bottom of his bag since Easter. Both Cameron’s hoped it was from this Easter not last Easter but you could never be sure with Liam backs pack. They all stood there in silence until they heard the school bus come around the corner. The Cameron’s quickly shoved their gifts from Remington back in their bags and hurriedly helped Liam gather up all his stuff and crammed it back into his backpack. They were Liam shoved the Stop Watch in just as the Bus pulled up

Chapter three Him Again
The door to the buss flew open but instead of seeing Miss Kim there was a man driving the bus who seemed to be much younger than miss Kim. Cameron Meyer asked where Miss Kim was. The man said “Miss Kim is out sick for a day I’ll be your driver today, my name is Bill”. Then Cameron, Cameron and Liam piled onto the bus along with the rest of the children from the neighborhood that had gathered at the stop. Cameron Morgan took his normal seat in the last row on the left and Liam sat next to him. Cameron Meyer slid into the seat in front of them. She immediately turned around and said, ”That new bus driver sure looks familiar”. Liam agreed and said he defiantly doesn’t look like a Bill. Cameron asked Liam, “What does a Bill look like?” “I don’t really know,” said Liam, “He just looks too young to be a Bill”. The three friends soon forgot about the ‘familiar but too young to be a bill’ bus driver and turned their thoughts to more pressing matters. “What does your Wandering Wand do” Cameron Morgan asked Cameron Meyers. “It’s A Wand of Wandering” she replied, “and I’m not really sure what it does. Remington said it can take me to anyplace my imagination wants to go”. “Wow”, said Liam. “All I got was this old watch and Remington left before he could tell me what it does”. Before long the bus arrived at the school and all the kids slowly filed off and into the school. The Camerons and Liam were the last ones off the bus. As they stepped off Bill said “Have a nice day at school see you soon”. “You too1” exclaimed Cameron Meyers. “You too?” Liam asked Cameron Meyers, “I’m pretty sure he isn’t going to school today and I wonder hat he meant by see you soon”. For the time being Cameron Morgan’s mind was elsewhere. He had just remembered they all had a math test first thing in the morning. “I hate morning math test’ Cameron grumbled. “Oh no! I completely forgot about the Math test,” Liam said. “You mean you won’t get the highest grade in the class this time”. Asked Cameron Morgan. “Oh, I’ll still get the highest grade I just forgot to tell you guys that I was going to get the highest grade again”. The Camerons just looked at each other and rolled their eyes. The kids meandered their way down the hall, past the library, shortcut through the cafeteria and into Mrs. Haberstroh’s third grade classroom. The three of them thought she was the best teacher they ever had. Not just because she moved up a grade every year to teach them but also because of the great stories she told of far away places and magical times. It almost made the morning math tests worth it. After the kids all sat down Mrs Haberstrogh said she was going to let a friend of hers tell a story instead of having a math test. At that exact moment a young man came walking through the door. Mrs. Haberstroh said “Class I’d like you to meet my dear old friend Mr. Charles Night.” The entire class except for the Camerons and Liam said “Hello Mr. Night”. The three friends just looked at each other. Were they the only ones who could see that this Mr. Night was also Bill the bus driver? Half of the other kids in the class took the same bus to school but nobody else seemed to notice or care that Mr Night was Bill the bus driver 5 minutes ago. Or maybe they were just so happy to not have a morning math test that they just didn’t care. Liam grumbled “What, no test? This isn’t fair”. Mr Night told his story as the class hung on his every word. Even Liam who would rather have had a math test seemed to enjoy it. Soon the story was over and it was time for gym class. Mrs Haberstroh had all the children line up at the door to lead them to the gym. As the children filed past Mr Night they thanked him for telling them a story and for getting them out of a math test. The Camerons and Liam were the last once to walk by. Liam said, “Thanks for the story” Mr Night reassured Liam, “don’t worry Liam they’ll be more math tests”. How did he know Liam’s name? As Cameron Morgan walked By he said “Thanks for getting us out of the math test Mr. Night”. “Happy to oblige Cameron Morgan” said Mr Night. Finally Cameron Myers walked past but all she said was “Thank you very much for the story Bill”. Mr Night laughed and said “You’re very welcome Cameron Meyers” and then winked at the three of them as they walked down the hallway to the gymnasium.

Chapter 4 the Principles office.

Before the Camerons and Liam could even work up a sweat an announcement came over the PA system. Would Cameron Meyers, Cameron Morgan and Liam please report to the principles office? Without saying a word Mr. Jim Shorts just looked at the friends and pointed to the door. First no math test now a trip to the Principle’s office Liam wondered if this day could get any worse. As they waited outside the principles office they wondered what they could have done to be called to the office. Before they could get too nervous the secretary said “The principle will see you now”. The three friends marched into the office with their minds racing as to why the principle had called for them. They walked in and stood in front of the principles desk. The principle was sitting in a large black office chair with his back to the three friends. “Please shut the door Liam” the principle said in an ominous tone. When the door closed the principle slowly spun around in his chair. Cameron Morgan was the first to see. “Mr. Night?” he said. Liam just stared. Cameron Meyers said “Bill?” The principle just laughed he said “Maybe you could all just call me Remington or Rem for short. “I knew it,” shouted Cameron Meyers. “Yes I’m sure you did,” said Remington. “But how are you here in our realm? I thought you lived in the realm of imagination and dreams,” said Cameron Morgan. “And where is your beard” asked Cameron Meyer. “And when will we get to take the math test?” asked Liam. “I mean why are you so young” he changed his question to as he felt the Camerons cold stare fall upon him. Actually all but the question about the math test have the same answer” replied Remington. Just as I visited you in your dreams last night you are visiting me in mine today. “Wait a second. I’m confused. Who is sleeping now? You or us?” asked Liam. “Technically speaking we all are. I’m fast asleep snug as a bug in cloud bed with my down comforter. The three of you however are daydreaming in the back of a school bus on the way to school. And don’t worry Liam you will wake up before the morning math test.” “Awesome!” exclaimed Liam. “Ugh!” exclaimed the camerons. “Hold on” said Cameron Morgan, “How do we know we are on the bus now? And how do we know this is just a dream”. “Well that rumble you’ve been hearing all morning is the sound of the busses engine. That tells you you’re on the bus. And the fact that you are sitting on the ceiling should tell you it is a dream”
The children looked around saw their chairs were now on the ceiling. Right next to them was the ceiling fan and light fixture. Before they could say anything they started to plummet to the floor. But a strange thing happened. Before they hit the floor they just stopped and floated to the ground. All three of them said “Cool” Cameron Meyers asked, “How did you do that. Remington looked at them and smiled. “I didn’t do it you did. You and your imaginations did it and that is why you I have asked you to help me fight The Dark Prince and keep the shadow realm locked away. “How can I do that with and old watch that you didn’t even tell my how to use” asked Liam. Well Liam it’s not an old watch it is a Stop Watch and you have already used it that is why I could not explain it to you. When you use your Stop Watch time stops all around you. Last night when I gave it to you you triggered it and time stopped. You stopped it for so long in the dream realm that it was time to wake up in your realm before I could explain it any further. To be honest I’m not as young as I used to be I just turned 3,592 and a half years old last week. And once I’m stopped it takes a little longer to start again. To use the stop watches magic all you have to do is hold it in your hand and say ‘watch stop’ and time will stop for all around you except for the camerons of course. When you want time to start again just say ‘watch start’” then his smile went away and his face became very serious “ Be very careful with it when time has stopped. If you lose it or break it while time has stopped time will be stopped forever”. He said in a very ominous voice. Then he smiled again and said “or 2 minutes and 37 seconds whichever comes first.”

Chapter 5 the dream weaver

Rem’s face again turned a bit more serious again. “This is not the first time the dark prince has tried to poke a hole between our two realms. In the past The Dream Weave would simply weave a patch of dreams and patch the hole. The problem is this time he has kidnapped the Dream Weaver and has hidden her away. Without her we have no way to close the hole”. “Tell me again what happens if the hole doesn’t get closed,” asked Liam. “in order to rule the two realms the dark prince needs the
